Ascendance - Devlog 6


Hi! Today we have a pretty positive progress report =)

Maybe you've read the log in which I mentioned that I'd been feeling like going back to do some re-work on what is available of the game before moving forward with the story.

Well, I did, in fact, decide to go with that approach, and more: I'm doing it from the very beginning.

Only the amount of choices should really change about the early chapters (one to four) but... Ah~ It's been a breath of fresh air.

I won't get too much into detail not to spoil everything, but:

  • The four character traits I was tracking behind the scenes turned into seven well-defined stats that you will be able to see: four of them regarding your personality and three of them regarding your behavior towards others;
  • The menu "bonds" is practically done, and I've added a couple of fun stuff to it, ^_~;
  • The "extra" menu has morphed into the "knowledge" menu, where I'll be re-writing the lore available in order not to break your immersion in the game;
  • There will be some character profiles in-game, and you'll be able to access them by clicking on their names in the menu "bonds".

I'm also naming the variables better, deleting the unnecessary ones, commenting on the code, and doing other small good-practice adjustments to make everything easily readable and a tiny bit more efficient, for my own future sake, lol.

That's about it! Now, I'm working on integrating these new features into the story and setting the tone of each route better, which is basically a lot of writing and testing.
