Ascendance - Devlog 5


Hi, there. Time for another bi-weekly devlog =)

It's finals season for me at uni and that, coupled with some other personal matters, made me step back from writing for a bit.

Before that started to go down, though, I:

  • Wrote about half of chapter eight for The Artists;
  • Started to implement a "light mode" for the UI that you can switch on and off;
  • Started to implement two new menus: "Character Traits" [Your MC's personality +] and "Bonds"[Basically relevant relationships].

On that note, there's one important point: I've been wanting to implement these above-mentioned menus starting from chapter five instead, as well as to do some re-work on chapters 5, 6, and 7, especially in Elya and Joana's route, before releasing chapter 8.

That is happening because, though I am ok with the key scenes (as the flashback itself and the initiation ceremony), the way I see it now, using the same scope for all the rest is not only hurting the replayability of the game but also stealing the singular tone of each route right off the bat. Not a great way to get started, right? 😅

How do you feel about getting an improved version of chapters five, six, and seven before we move forward? It's starting to feel like the right call for me =)

If I do go down that path, I'll make sure to keep you guys on the loop!

You do what you think is best. When rereading my own writing, I often find that I want to make small changes. Perhaps that's just me but I would be interested in reading what you have in store, whether you update the chapters here or release them via a patreon. 

Take your time and focus on those finals.
